SpeakOut to Host Inaugural “I AM” Awards

The “I AM” Awards will honor Black LGBTQ people who have demonstrated a lifelong commitment to social change for queer communities

WASHINGTON, February 16 – SpeakOut, a leading national community engagement organization, will host its inaugural “I AM” Awards on Saturday, April 30, 2022. The black-tie fundraising gala and awards program will celebrate the accomplishments of Black LGBTQ people who have significantly contributed to enhancing the quality of life of queer communities and who have demonstrated a lifelong commitment to social change. The organization plans to usher in a new conversation and future for Same Gender Loving (SGL) people.

“This upscale event celebrating Black queer excellence has been designed to be an imperial evening of recognition, empowerment, style, and celebrity engagement,” said Antonio Driver, executive director of SpeakOut. “We are honored to bring this red carpet moment to the District!”

Certified Executive Matchmaker and Relationship Coach J’Lamar Nichols will host the event.
