COVID-19 and Black and Brown LGBTQ Communities

40 million Americans have lost their jobs as a result of COVID-19, while more than 100,000 Americans have died. It is no secret that the pandemic has drastically changed lives around the world.

The fact is – the coronavirus has made navigating discrimination even more challenging for Black and Brown LGBT/SGL people.

Senseless hate crimes across the country have taken the lives of Nina Pop, George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and so many others. As our community mourns our lost soldiers, bias in our healthcare system has caused COVID-19 deaths to rise among Black, Brown and Native communities at an alarming rate. It clearly displays the systemic racism and privilege granted to white people in America.

Black and Brown LGBTQ people are often hit the hardest in times of turmoil. We are here for you. We see you, and we are doing our part to help in any way we can.
